Can Stem Cell, PRP & Regenerative Medicine Help You? Beverly Hills CA

Regenerative medicine is an exciting aspect of medical advances that can help several people. It includes several techniques for resolving musculoskeletal issues. From stem cell to Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and prolotherapy, the pillars of regenerative medicine can offer many benefits people know little or nothing about. They are very relevant and helpful in pain medicine.

Understanding the difference between a stem cell, PRP, and prolotherapy

While they are closely related, the three pillars of regenerative medicine we are considering here are different in some ways. Understanding the differences will help you appreciate them better and understand what you need.

Stem Cell

Stem cell is the most popular aspect of regenerative medicine. While it is still misunderstood by people, stem cell is currently used for several rehabilitative purposes. There are three major types of stem cells, but non-embryonic “somatic” or “Adult Cells” are the most used in regenerative medicine. They are cells harvested from adult tissues and used in different ways.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

While it can be used as a standalone treatment, PRP is often used in conjunction with stem cell treatment to give it a boost. They are packed with at least seven growth factors that help make regenerative medicine effective and beneficial. Whether it is used alone or with stem cell, PRP can yield several wonderful results.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is a short term for proliferative therapy. It entails the stimulation of a proliferative or regenerative process in the body. It involves administering multiple detox-saline injections in specific concentration into the areas of the body requiring treatment. Prolotherapy can help in pain management in two ways – it can be injected into connective tissue structures to induce healing or injected into joints to reduce painful inflammation from different issues.
